Central Asian countries focus on ethno and ecotourism

Central Asian countries focus on ethno and ecotourism. The region has the vast territories, diverse landscapes, as well as a rich historical and cultural heritage such as ancient cities, sacred places, medieval architecture monuments. All this attracts more and more tourists from around the world every year.

 - World tourist community is very interested in the nomadic culture, everything that is connected with Asia, with the Eastern culture. We should promote it and we need to sell it. The number of ecotourists is increasing, the tendency of the increase is systematic. Moreover, tourists come from Australia, Korea and Japan.

According to experts, despite the common cultural and historical background of the republics, each state has its own plan for the development of ethno-tourist potential. For example, there are ethnic villages in almost all regions of Kazakhstan, special cultural heritage complexes have been built. Visitors can do national sports, enjoy the sound of national instruments and learn more about the unique customs of nomads. it was such ethnic villages that were very popular among travelers and foreign participants of the international exhibition Astana EXPO 2017.

 - At present, the main regions that interest foreign ecotourists are Southern Kazakhstan, central Kazakhstan, and eastern Kazakhstan. Our market is already working today, there is a large segment of companies that organize weekend nature tours. We have plans, we are working with the European Union on environmental tourism project. In 2018, we will open new guest houses, and new destinations.

Travel packages that include several Central Asian countries are in the highest demand among foreign visitors. At the same time, experts note, tourists also prefer visiting the cities that existed at the time of the Great Silk Road, as they were international transit points and vital centers of trade, crafts and interaction of cultures.

 - We are far from Europe and from other countries that are now interested in Kazakhstan as a tourist destination. Therefore, it is understandable why tourists coming from there want to visit two or three countries at once, and the Great Silk Road desdtination demonstrates this. They do not come to visit only Uzbekistan or only Kazakhstan, or only Kyrgyzstan. We see that tourists travel to Uzbekistan, visit Bukhara, Samarkand, then go to Kazakhstan and further to Kyrgyzstan.

Experts say that the latest trends in the world tourism sphere are the development of non-beach recreation, namely, eco-tourism. Central Asian countries have great opportunities in this regard. Extensive steppes, picturesque mountain passes, evergreen pine forests, clean lakes - travelers can visit several climatic zones at once and get acquainted with diverse flora and fauna. Another advantage of the region's tourist potential is the presence of truly untouched corners of nature. All this together, as well as joint efforts of the republics to develop the industry at legislative levels, helps attract more tourist.
