Kazakhstan to decrease number of international flights

Kazakhstan made a decision to strengthen border control in the light of the epidemiological situation abroad. The number of international flights to Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine and Germany will be reduced starting tomorrow, Air Astana press office reported. The weekly air passenger services to Istanbul and Dubai alone will be reduced by four flights and to Kiyv and Frankfurt by two. The schedule of domestic flights remains unchanged for the time being.

As expected, Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Association was not excited about the decision to reduce the number of international flights. The organization’s experts said that this measure will lead to huge losses for the entire industry. According to their projections, this will be followed by an increase in tariffs for all types of airport and airline services. According to the association, airports of Kazakhstan suffered a reduction of the budgeted revenue by at least 70 percent in the second and third quarters of 2020 due to the quarantine regime.
