First flock of flamingos arrives in Aktau
The first flock of flamingos arrived in Aktau. Experts say that flamingos, which are included in the Red Data Book of endangered and rare species of animals and plants in Kazakhstan, usually flock there by November, but this time they decided to arrive a little earlier. Flamingos flew from the lakes Tengiz and Korgalzhyn, which are located on the territory of the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve in Akmola region. These birds fly to Iran, the United Arab Emirates and India because of the cold snap. In total, nearly 10,000 flamingos flock to Aktau every year. However, not all of them fly away any further. Sometimes, a flock of nearly 100 flamingos stays there for the winter.
