Ecologists urge Kazakh citizens not to throw away medical masks
Ecologists of Kazakhstan expressed alarm that residents do not sort waste, throwing away personal protective equipment along with ordinary trash. The thing that seems to save from the dangerous virus is destroying nature at the same time. Masks and gloves can be found on the streets in cities. People in Kazakhstan do not realize what damage such non-ecological behavior causes the environment.
“It shows the eco-culture or even just the culture of our citizens. We have to realize that thrown mask or gloves will turn into a big trouble for our children tomorrow. This is dirty water, our food, our air. Everything is connected. You need to start with yourself, control yourself, discipline yourself,” said Assem Omar, spokesperson of the Kazakhstan Pavilion and Science Museum (Nur Alem).
Experts reminded that many organizations in the state install special trash cans, after which trash is sent for recycling, not into general waste. Ecologists also advise to use other types of mask, for example, not medical, but reusable cloth ones. This is cheaper as well, experts highlighted.
