Kok Zhailau and parts of Burabai National Park receive status of specially protected areas
Today, on September 17, during a plenary session, the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, adopted in the second reading the law ‘On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of Kazakhstan on the issues of specially protected natural areas.’
“The purpose of the bill is to simplify the procedure for returning the status of specially protected natural territories to reserve lands that were previously withdrawn from this category for construction of tourism facilities, water management facilities, arrangement and operation of state border facilities and defense needs, but not used for these purposes,” said Senator Abdaly Nuraliyev.
According to the bill, Kok Zhailau and part of the lands of the Burabai National Nature Park will receive the status of specially protected natural areas.
In addition, this document will help to preserve natural sites and objects of the nature reserve fund, which have a special environmental, scientific, historical and recreational value. It will also contribute to the development of ecotourism and expand the list of services provided by environmental institutions.
