Abai Institute opens in Oskemen
The Institute of Abai opened at one of the Oskemen’s universities. Scientists said that one of the main goals during the year of the 175th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher is the popularization of his legacy via the development of modern methods.
There are many manuals for those who want to study the poet’s works more deeply, especially for teachers. “Course of Abai Studies” created by the institute’s research team is also in demand among school students.
“We were preparing with great responsibility to open the institute. We have a sufficient scientific and methodological base, all our own works. We can provide scientific and methodological advice for the entire East Kazakhstan region and cooperate with other Abai centers at the national level,” said director of the Abai Research Institute Aizhan Kartayeva.
As part of the opening of the institute, organizers presented an unusual exhibition of primers from different nations. The exposition consisted of 63 copies of rare books. This collection came from one of the oldest professors of the university Fyodor Golovanov. Linguists noted that despite the fact that alphabets are written in different languages, they have the same goals.
