Kazakhstan discusses phased easing of quarantine restrictions
Kazakhstan will gradually lift quarantine restrictions using a phased approach. In the near future, the state commission will consider how strong the relaxation of quarantine rules will be this time, Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy announced at a government meeting.
The improvement of the epidemiological situation in the country was the reason behind this decision. Tsoy stated that coronavirus reproduction rate in all regions of Kazakhstan is below one. Turkistan region is the only exception. He said that the situation has stabilized because of the measures taken.
“In five weeks of quarantine, the virus’ reproduction rate declined from 1.15 to 0.82 and the incidence rate decreased from 56.73 per 100,000 people to 36.2 per 100,000 people. The above positive dynamics indicates the possibility of a phased easing of quarantine measures,” Tsoy said.

This does not mean that it is time to put masks and antiseptics aside. On the contrary, Tsoy stressed that the relaxation of quarantine should be carried out in strict compliance with sanitary rules. Therefore, being in public places without personal protective equipment (PPE) will continue to be prohibited. In addition, the specialists will continue to carry out awareness-raising activities. The final proposal for the phased easing of quarantine measures will be presented at the next meeting of the state commission.
