Almaty reinforces quarantine again
Deterioration of the epidemiological situation led to the reinforcing quarantine measures in Almaty. Working hours of the city’s public service centers, shopping and entertainment malls and markets were limited. According to the statement of Chief Sanitary Doctor of Almaty Zhandarbek Bekshin, civil servants, organizations, branches of national companies and other offices have to switch 50 percent of their employees (if a company has more than 30 workers) to remote working.
“Events with a large crowd of people were limited. There are also restrictions on the rental of houses and buildings. It is prohibited to rent or rent out private houses to hold public events,” he said.
These measures are imposed to minimize increases in the transmission of the virus. According to the latest data, Almaty has 3,147 cases of coronavirus and 880 asymptomatic carriers. The growth of the infection statistics was also affected by massive contagions of the “Rakhat” chocolate factory’s employees.
“At first, one worker was found out to be infected with coronavirus when he was taken to hospital for a planned surgery. The factory has an equipped stationary thermal imager at the entrance. Eight employees at once were registered with high temperature in one day. The factory immediately called the ambulance. The employees with high temperature were not allowed to work,” commented the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Almaty.
Nearly 1,500 workers of the enterprise were examined after this incident. 467 out of them were carriers of the virus. They were sent to home quarantine and will be monitored by medical staff.
The work of the factory is suspended at the moment. The quarantine in the enterprise will last at least until June 23.
