Medieval monuments were found in the vicinity of Taraz
The historical and cultural museum-reserve ‘Monuments of Ancient Taraz’ was replenished with the new exhibits of the ancient era of the steppe civilization. These exhibits supplemented the information about that historical period. The antique bronze jewelry, ceramic vessels and coins were among them. Historians say that the silver coin with the seal of Genghis Khan’s ancestor was the most valuable discovery. Experts believe that the coin was cast in Otyrar in 1268. In addition, many metal and copper items created in animal style were found as well. These ancient monuments of the Karakhanid era were transferred to the museum by the local residents.
“The found items will be sent to a special analysis. We hope that after the experts examine and check them, all of the artifacts will be stored at the shelves of our museum. As part of the ‘Gift to the National Museum’ campaign, many new exhibits were handed over to us. We would like to express our appreciation for that. Thanks to these people, we can proudly present on the shelves of our museum the samples of the historical heritage of our ancestors,” said Zhazira Shildebayeva, Head of Department of the ‘Monuments of Ancient Taraz’ historical and cultural museum-reserve.
