Nur-Sultan launches a pilot project of free fitness classes in the yards
Fitness club in the yard – the pilot project to engage the residents in sports activities was launched in Nur-Sultan. Now the city residents can do sports exercises without leaving their block. Those who wish to join the fitness class can do so at any convenient time from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The outdoor group trainings are absolutely free of charge. The project organizers said that the fitness classes were introduced only in one yard of the multi-story building of Nur-Sultan. However, starting from July, they intend to start the workouts within other residential complexes of the Kazakh capital.
All classes both for adults and children are conducted under the guidance of an experienced trainer. The project also includes the fitness exercises for the elderly people. The grandmothers and grandfathers are offered to do the set of gymnastic exercises called the ‘Active ageing’. In addition, the program takes into account gender preferences – yoga for moms and football trainings for men. The city residents have already attended the yard trainings. First, they were pretty careful, but then they entered into the spirit of group exercises.
“This project is very good. According to the reviews of the city residents, they really liked it. Now they are quite active in attending all of the classes. People of various age categories come to train, including children, adults and elderly. In my opinion, the elderly find it very interesting, because in addition to training outdoors they also communicate with other people, get acquainted with their neighbors. The spirit of good neighborliness is rising. They really like the professional approach of the trainers. They noticed all of these advantages,” noted Madina Abisheva, Chairperson of the apartment owners’ cooperative.
