Aircraft crew that made emergency landing in Almaty region receives state awards
A technical malfunction caused the emergency landing of the C-295 military aircraft in Zhetygen aerodrome in Almaty region on May 4. This was the conclusion of the accident investigation commission, which, by the order of the Kazakh Defense Ministry, included the representatives of the Airbus Military, as well as the employees of the ‘Kazakhstan Aviation Industry’ LLP.
The Commission explained that the competent actions of the military pilots allowed them to land safely at the Zhetygen aerodrome despite the defect of the front landing gear.
“By the order of President of Kazakhstan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the crew members of the C-295 military aircraft were awarded state awards for the courage and high professionalism. Major Zhenis Zainuldinov and Captain Ablai Ibrayev were awarded the ‘Aibyn’ orders of the second degree (the Order of Valour). Major Karim Pakhirdinov and Warrant Officer Igor Karabets were awarded ‘Zhauyngerlik yerligi ushin’ medals (Medal of military valour),” Kazakh Ministry of Defense reported.
In addition, the Ministry noted the great professionalism of the ground crew of the Armed Forces and the Committee for Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, because due to their actions the Zhetygen aerodrome could prepare in advance for the emergency landing. The Ministry said that this allowed avoiding the casualties and saving the expensive aviation equipment.
“By order of the Kazakh Ministry of Defense, the military personnel of the ground services who showed their professionalism in providing the emergency landing of the aircraft were awarded the ‘El korgany’ medals (Defender of the Motherland) and certificates of achievement,” the message of the Ministry said.
