Mass disinfection and compensation payments begin in Maktaaral district
Mass disinfection has started in the villages affected by the flooding in Maktaaral district of Turkistan region to prevent the spread of the infectious diseases, regional communications service reported.
“To date, we took preventive measures in Firdousi and Orgebas villages. Soon, we will continue disinfecting other villages, where the water level dropped. The disinfection will be carried out in water wells and water pipes of the affected villages. Expert research will be conducted, and the quality of drinking water will be tested,” said Aldan Akhmetov, a Deputy Director of the regional Department for Quality and Safety Control of Goods and Services.
The flood-affected residents of Maktaaral district began to receive monetary compensation. According to the region’s mayoral office press service, owners of 5,202 residential are receiving US$1,000 from the fund of entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov.
Additionally, 6,128 families will receive 100,000 tenge (US$237) each from the state reserve. The region’s mayoral office reported that these funds will be paid to residents of Zhenis, Zhanaturmys, Firdousi, Dostyk villages as well as to the population in the evacuated centers of Myrzakent, Akzhol, T. Zhailybayev, Zhantaksai, Araily, Nurlytan, Nurlyzhol and Shugyla villages.
