Kazakh Defense Ministry names possible MiG-31 fighter jet crash causes
Commander of Kazakhstan Air Defense Forces Nurlan Ormanbetov named possible causes of the MiG-31 fighter jet crash near Karagandy at a briefing in Center Communications Service. He commented that the commission is considering several possible causes such as the aircraft failure as well as impact of external and human factors. Commander Ormanbetov asked the media not to speculate and wait for the official respond of the commission that has already begun the investigation. Manufacturer of the aircraft is involved in the investigation as well.
The military aircraft was operating for 29 years of scheduled 30. It would have been written off only the next year, Kazakh Defense Ministry reported. To date, all flights of the MiG-31 aircrafts were cancelled pending the investigation.
