Religious holidays in Kazakhstan to be held online
Due to the state of emergency declared in Kazakhstan, religious leaders urged Kazakh citizens to celebrate religious holidays online staying at home with family members. The holidays include Easter and Ramadan. The holiest month of Ramadan will begin on April 24.
“We urge Muslims to suspend religious services in mosques, canteens and other public places to prevent the infection spread. We recommend you having iftar evening meal at home with your families,” said Nauryzbai Kazhy Taganuly, Supreme Mufti of Kazakhstan.
Religious ceremony of Easter will broadcast live from the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty.
“This year, believers will have to celebrate the Easter holiday at home due to the self-isolation conditions. However, it shouldn’t affect the joy of the main holiday,” commented Metropolitan Alexander of Kazakhstan and Astana.
