12,600 families will have access to affordable rental housing
12,600 Kazakh families will have access to the long-awaited rental apartments under a state rent assistance program this year. According to the Kazakh government, 90 billion tenge (nearly US$205 million) has been allocated for the construction and purchase of the subsidized housing. The program allows the beneficiaries to rent a rent-controlled apartment and buy it out over a period of time. The rent pay is accounted to finance the purchase of the apartment.
150,000 apartments (nearly 15 million square meters of housing) will be built in Kazakhstan as part of the ‘Nurly Zher’ state program. These apartments will be leased or lent under favorable conditions. The citizens who can apply for the housing program include large families, young working professionals, civil servants and low-income families.
