Kazakhstan took measures on prevention of coronavirus

Kazakhstan has taken measures to reduce the risk of the spread of coronavirus in the country. Based on the government’s decision, the country suspends a visa-free policy for transit passengers from China. According to the latest reports, more than 19,000 people who crossed the Chinese border have been tested for the virus. The work at Kazakhstan’s part of Khorgos International Center of cross-border cooperation has been stopped. The consular and other help to Kazakh citizens in China will be strengthened. Recently, Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin held an urgent meeting on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan. The Prime Minister gave a number of instructions to prevent coronavirus in the territory of Kazakhstan.

ASKAR MAMIN, KAZAKH PRIME MINISTER:

-  Currently, a dangerous coronavirus is spreading in Wuhan and other cities of bordering China. The virus causes severe pneumonia which is dangerous to human lives. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to take decisive measures to prevent the spread of the virus from China to Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh Foreign Ministry is taking measures to return Kazakh citizens to their homeland. According to the latest reports, there are about a thousand Kazakh citizens currently in China. All of them will be returned to Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Kazakh airlines have restricted all flights to the island province of China, Hainan. The Almaty-Haikou and Nur-Sultan-Sanya flights have been canceled today.
