The grandiose celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly and the 1,150th anniversary of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi are planned in Kazakhstan. Members of the state commission set a plan for the preparation and celebration of the significant events after having discussed the submitted proposals in detail in Nur-Sultan.
The calendar of the anniversary year includes dozens of events in different countries. For example, conferences in Paris, meetings of researchers of Abai studies in the University of Cambridge, the premiere of the Abai opera at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Exhibitions, festivals and presentations throughout Kazakhstan have been planned as well. In addition, documentaries about Abai and Al-Farabi will be filmed and their works will be translated and published.
“We plan to translate Abai’s works into ten languages. We plan to build a large Abai’s World Center in the capital of Kazakhstan. In addition, the mayor’s office in Nur-Sultan will allocate budget for the construction of the Abai monument. The government has allocated over three billion tenge for the organizational expenses,” said Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, Berdibek Saparbayev.
“I assigned the task on taking additional measures in infrastructure improvement in Abai district in the East Kazakhstan region. Based on the Kazakh Embassies abroad and the partner universities of local national universities, it is necessary to conduct works on creating Abai centers. I assign the task on setting regional plans on the preparations for the organization of the anniversary to the mayors of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent as well as to the governors of the regions,” said Kazakh Secretary of State, Krymbek Kusherbayev.
