Kazakhstan Presents Gastronomic Tours at Exhibition in Moscow
Kazakhstan has presented its tourism opportunities at an international tourism exhibition in Moscow recently.
12 Kazakh companies have showcased a variety of holiday destinations in Kazakhstan, including city tours to Astana and Almaty, eco and ethno tours and excursions to rocket launches at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
Deputy Chairperson of Kazakh national company, Kairat Sadvakasov said Kazakhstan is focusing on gastronomic tourism this year as the revival of the national cuisine in the country will help attract a large number of foreign tourists to the country.
“An integral part of any tours is visiting national restaurants. Our national cuisine is currently not very popular worldwide, so we have to actively promote our food through these exhibitions. “
“A gastronomic tour card is being developed currently, which will allow the tourists to see and learn the specific national dishes. We are also involved in the revival of old traditional recipes” Sadvakasov said, adding that the global tourism trend today is gastronomic tours.
Visitors of the exhibition were given Kazakh traditional food such as zhent, kazy and baursaks to try. They also learned about the new tour packages to Kazakhstan.
Last year, a total of 1.7 million tourists from Russia has visited Kazakhstan, mostly Astana and Almaty. Experts said that this year the arrival number from Russia is projected to increase by five to six percent.
“In 2018, two million people visited us. We have the Alakol Lake which has healing properties. Most of the tourists visited Alakol, to be specific on the numbers it’s over a million in last year alone,” said spokesperson of Tourism Department of Almaty region, Rauan Myrzagulov.
The tourism exhibition in Moscow is among the five largest in the world. Nearly 2,000 companies from 54 countries took part in this year’s event.
Kazakhstan’s national tourism agency has signed several agreements with Russian travel agencies on the cooperation and mutual promotion of tourism products.
