Kazakhstan is increasing its export of meat products
Kazakhstan is increasing its export potential. The Almaty region’s meat industry has big opportunities. The region has 14 abattoirs with 8,000 young cattle. The cattle were taken from small farms. Kanat Zhumashev intends to export meat. He is working on the cattle breeding of the Kazakh white-headed cows. Now there are 500 pedigree cattle on his farm.
KANAT ZHUMASHEV, DIRECTOR, CATTLE FARM:
- We are increasing the rate of animal reproduction. There will be up to 1,000-2,000 cattle and we will continue to increase the number. We need to export meat. We will expand this little slaughterhouse and will build a large workshop where we can process the meat.
There are more than 1,000 farmers like Kanat Zhumashev in the Aksu district.
They have 82,000 cows on their farms. The number of livestock in the region has increased by 16% compared to last year. The next goal is to increase the share of pedigree or pure breed animals.
SAGIT BEKBOLATOV, DIRECTOR, AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT:
- We crossbred 8,000 cows with pedigree bulls. We have a good offspring, including Hereford, Angus, the Kazakh white-headed and the Auliyekol breed.
This year the first 200 tonnes of beef have been exported to Kyrgyzstan. Negotiations are underway on the export of meat to Russia and Uzbekistan.
