Kazakh Foreign Minister speaks at Horasis Extraordinary Meeting
The role of multilateral efforts by the international community to devise solutions to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and other global challenges. This was the main topic at the high-level video conference of the independent international think tank Horasis. Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi took part at the Horasis Extraordinary Meeting. The virtual event was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
The Horasis Forum participants agreed that the UN should play a leading role in coordinating this process. In his speech at the General Debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the UN should coordinate international efforts to tackle the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerate economic recovery and improve global governance.
The Forum gathered the most senior members of the Horasis Visions Community and included more than 20 plenary sessions and plenary discussions. UN Secretary-General António Guterres delivered the welcome address. Horasis was established in 2005 with the aim of ‘enacting visions for sustainable future’ by establishing platforms for cooperation and knowledge exchange, in particular between developed countries and emerging markets.
