Kazakhstan Contributes to Reinforcing Stability in Afghanistan
Central Asian countries have made significant progress in terms of providing support to economic development and reinforcement of stability in Afghanistan.
This was discussed at the round table of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe held in Nur-Sultan.
During the event, representatives of international and regional organizations talked about the support given to Afghanistan, including Kazakhstan’s significant contribution.
To date, Kazakhstan has allocated US$80 million for Afghanistan’s economy, including US$26 million provided for humanitarian assistance.
The main support was directed at development of agriculture and construction industry as well as improvement of education quality.
“This is Kazakhstan’s total amount invested in the economy of Afghanistan. We have built schools, roads, bridges and a railway. Kazakhstan invested 50 million in education of 1,000 Afghan students,” said Ambassador-at-Large, Kazakh Foreign Ministry, Stanislav Vassilenko.
