Kazakhstan and Indonesia are marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Kazakhstan and Indonesia are marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Over this time, the countries developed cooperation in all areas. From year to year, Kazakhstan and Indonesia are strengthening and expanding their political, economic and cultural ties. According to Indonesian ambassador to Kazakhstan Rahmat Pramono, the two countries have a large potential to increase trade volumes. Last year, the amount of trade grew several times. Tourism is another promising field of cooperation that the countries are set to develop. Last year, more than 5,000 Kazakh tourists visited Indonesia which is higher than in 2016. There is a visa-free arrangement for the Kazakh citizens visiting Indonesia for up to 30 days which, according to the diplomat, contributes to the growth of tourist numbers.
RAHMAT PRAMONO, INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR TO KAZAKHSTAN:
- Our bilateral trade has been increasing quite well although we have some challenges with the logistics and transportation issue, last year in 2017 for example, our bilateral trade has increased 136 per cent from the previous year. It’s approximately US$53 million. Two areas which are our priority first, of course, is to increase our bilateral economic relations, in particular, trade and investment.
