Kazakhstan at UN Security Council
Kazakhstan served as a co-sponsor to the United Nations (UN) Security Council’s new resolution on children in armed conflicts. The resolution was adopted as a result of the open debates of the UN Security Council in New York. The draft underlines the connection between protection of children and conflict prevention. Kazakhstan is actively involved in the preparation of the document. According to Kazakhstan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Kairat Umarov, the unanimous adoption of the resolution proved the harmony between the UN member countries on this issue. The unity must be used for the protection of children through collective and comprehensive measures. According to the report of the UN Secretary General, more than 10,000 children were killed or injured last year in conflicts all over the world.
