Expert opinions on SCO Summit
A large free trade zone is being created as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. An interconnection of the transport infrastructure of participating countries requires close interaction of their customs services. Belarus has applied for participation in the economic zone. The countries of the Persian Gulf and ASEAN member states showed their interest, too. The Beijing-Astana-Moscow-Berlin high-speed railway will help increasing the volume of trade in Eurasia. Use of national currencies in mutual settlements of the SCO member countries will allow reducing external dependence of economies.
AKMAL RAKHMANOV, MEMBER OF OLIY MAJLIS OF UZBEKISTAN:
- President Nazarbayev’s proposal on transitioning to national currencies in mutual trade between the SCO member countries and Asia is a very appropriate initiative. This will be the basis for the economic recovery of all states, including the SCO member countries. More than 20 agreements were signed at the summit. The agreements are aimed at the future development of the organization. We can say that relations and unity of the SCO member states have reached a qualitatively new level of development.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s proposal to create a joint platform for development of innovative production and expansion of electronic commerce was also voiced at the summit of leaders of the SCO member states in Qingdao. Nursultan Nazarbayev shared an idea of a platform for exchange of experience in digital transformation and new technologies. Chinese experts highly appreciated the president’s global initiatives. They believe that proposals are an important trend in global economy and without them it is impossible to make a leap forward in the modern world.

- Kazakhstan’s president pays special attention to digital transformation of economy. Today, all developed countries are trying to transform their economies into a digital format. Important agreements were signed with the chairperson of China during Nursultan Nazarbayev’s state visit to China. The agreements on the increase of the electronic commerce between the two countries were signed, too.
