Nursultan Nazarbayev met with U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol. The meeting was held ahead of the planned official visit of the Kazakh President to the United States. President Nazarbayev noted that over the past 26 years of the republic’s independence, the two countries have built friendly relations. More than 70 cooperation agreements were signed in this period. There are nearly 500 companies with American participation, more than 140 joint Kazakh –American enterprises in Kazakhstan. During the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of the agreements reached with American President Donald Trump in combatting terrorism, promoting nuclear non-proliferation, and expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation. Ambassador George Krol expressed his confidence that the forthcoming visit of the Kazakh President to the U.S. will further strengthen the ties between the two states.

- I wanted to meet you ahead of my visit to the United States. You have played a significant role in the development of relations between the United States and Kazakhstan. I want to thank for your work. In 26 years of our country’s independence, I have had contacts with all the presidents of the U.S. In general, we have built good relations and adopted joint documents.

- Today I met with respected President Nursultan Nazarbayev. The meeting was held just before President Nazarbayev's visit to the US. In the US, it will be a sign of happiness, because this is in the new year the first official visit to Washington, at the invitation of President Trump. I am sure that this visit will strengthen our relations not only between our leaders, but also between our nations.
