Launch of car ferry terminal in Kuryk seaport

The new car ferry terminal was launched in Kuryk seaport. Its construction began last year after the increase of sea cargo coming to Aktau port from Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia. Then the only sea harbor could not cope with the large amount of cargoes. After the launch of the new terminal, they are able to handle up to 20,000 vehicles a year, which will help unload the Aktau sea port. The project is being implemented as part of the Nurly Zhol state program.

Ferry "Nakhichevan" is almost loaded, the next in the queue is "Professor Gul". Kuryk port’s control room manages the traffic, navigates ferries to docks and handles the cargo. Another dock has been recently opened at the railway ferry complex. It can process two ferries at the same time. The car component of the complex is also designed to handle two ships with wagons.

- All the conditions will be created so that cargo vehicles with drivers, with guides from Ukraine, Turkey, and other regions could come here, unload the cargo, and be serviced well. There will be a special customs clearance zone for cargo vehicles, the seaport will also be created.

 - Next year we are planning to ship up to 300 million tonnes of cargo. There is a lot of work to do. Four ships are in the queue now. There are about 500 more cars waiting for their turn. Among them are cargoes from China. They transport coal, grain, oil products and other goods. There are three Azerbaijani ships, two more went to sea. One vessel is being loaded with 50 wagons, they will be sent to Baku.

Operation of two railway and two automobile docks will allow processing of 6 million tonnes of cargo per year. At present, the port of Kuryk processes 1.3 million tonnes of cargo per year, and by the end of the year the figure will increase to 1.5 million. The rail ferry complex is loaded with wagons carrying grain and liquid cargo, the car ferry complex handles dry cargo. After passing all the necessary procedures cars can head directly to their destination.
