Kazakhstan – Uzbekistan bus service

The first bus link between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be launched by the end of the year. This service can be used by citizens of the two countries traveling to Shymkent and Tashkent. First of all, it is planned to open passenger transportation. Bus service between other cities will open next year. The issue of transiting cargo between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has already been resolved.

- From 2000 to 2500 people per day used to pass the Shymkent-Tashkent border, as there was no bus service. Now citizens will be able to travel by bus, as we plan to launch an international route between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This is very beneficial from the economic and legal point of view. New jobs will be created as well.

The carrier will be selected soon. The cost of the trip will be determined by the time the service is launched. The carrier will be able to service passengers in this direction for five years.

- The distance between Shymkent and Tashkent is not more than 250 kilometers. According to the law, buses can travel every 15 minutes. The frequency will depend on the flow of passengers. The carrier's proposal also matters. According to market conditions, the cost of a trip on an international route is determined by the carrier. The information will be available after all the relevant documents are handed in.

Uzbekistan is the second Central Asian country that will be linked with Kazakhstan by bus service. Thus, there are 10 routes running between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, such as Almaty-Bishkek, Almaty-Cholpon-Ata, and Karaganda-Cholpon-Ata. As noted in the Transport Committee, if there is a demand, a transport communication will be established with other countries.
