Istanbul's conference

Istanbul hosted a special conference dedicated to unity of the Turkic-speaking states where participants discussed development of  culture of the Turkic peoples as well as integration projects by President of Kazakhstan. Experts at the Center for Strategic Studies of Eurasia organized this meeting. The experts say that the basis of economic and political relations is cultural bridges. They highlighted that Nursultan Nazarbayev made a valuable contribution to strengthening the unity of the Turkic peoples.


- In recent years, particularly in more than 10 years, Kazakhstan has become stronger in political, economic and social areas. This allowed the Turkic-speaking countries to play a leading role in integration processes. At Kazakhstan’s initiative, the Turkic Council, the Council of Elders and TURKPA were established. These are main decisions and vision of Kazakhstan’s leader.

The initiative to switch to Latin was the subject of a separate discussion at the conference. Experts said that they welcomed Kazakhstan's accession to the Turkic-speaking countries, specifically, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which use Latin.


- President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev made an important step towards cultural cooperation in the Turkic world by approving the transition to the Latin alphabet on October 26. This is a big step in terms of more dynamic development of the Kazakh language and culture. This was necessary not only for closer cooperation between fraternal peoples, but also for Kazakhstan’s technical and scientific development.
