UK-Kazakhstan investment forum

UK- Kazakhstan  investment forum was held in London. British businessmen and representatives of international financial institutions learnt about the program of privatization of Kazakhstan’s state companies, and also received full information about the work of the Kazakh Invest and the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). The governor of the AIFC, Kairat Kelimbetov, told about a number of preferences available for investors.


- We informed them that starting from January 1, 2018, the basic institutions of the international financial center, such as the arbitration center, a new exchange, court and regulators of the AIFC will begin to operate in accordance with the Constitutional Law and in accordance with the initiative of the head of state.

Representatives of Kazakh Invest presented new approaches in working with potential investors. The measures should help to implement sectoral and regional projects. It was noted that the volume of accumulated direct investment of the UK in the economy of Kazakhstan exceeded $20 billion. The United Kingdom belongs to the priority countries in terms of attracting investments, according to the National Investment Strategy of Kazakhstan adopted this year.


- Now we are preparing a number of proposals on specific projects that will be discussed with the Kazakh-British Council. We took a proactive approach. That is, we are offering concrete projects and are now preparing for a bilateral intergovernmental commission where we will discuss all these projects and provide comprehensive support.

  The forum resulted in concluding Memorandums on Cooperation between the "Kazakh Invest" National Company and the British Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan. Over 25 years, the status of mutual relations between the two countries has grown to the level of strategic partnership. The United Kingdom is an important trading and economic partner for Kazakhstan, and the largest investor.
