Majilis reviews amendments to legislation regulating space activities

The bill regulating the commercial use of Kazakhstani satellites was presented in the Majilis. According to developers, currently Kazakhstan uses not much its space infrastructure: communications, broadcasting and high-precision navigation, and remote sensing devices. The new law will create the necessary legal conditions for the practical implementation of space technologies in the areas of agriculture, geodesy, informational support and prevention of emergency situations. Thus, according to the representatives of Kazcosmos, with the introduction of this document, the domestic satellites will not only justify the cost of maintaining them, but also will bring considerable profit.

Meirbek MOLDABEKOV, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, AEROSPACE COMMITTEE, KAZAKH MINISTRY OF INNOVATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT:

Access to foreign markets, such as with images of remote sensing of the Earth - is the main channel of earning money, because if for instance, the territory of Kazakhstan against the entire territory of the Earth makes up a small percentage. A space system is the system of global nature, it makes images anywhere in the world. If the satellite will profit 10 tenge from shots in Kazakhstan, in overseas territories it can earn 90 tenge.
