Italian archaeologists will study holy places of Kazakhstan
Foreign scientists will study the history of the Great Steppe. This summer Italian archaeologists and Kazakh experts will go on an expedition to the holy places of Kazakhstan as part of the Modernization of Public Consciousness program. All discovered exhibits will be restored with the support of professionals from the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, one of Italy's leading restoration institutes. Foreign experts will share their experience with their Kazakh colleagues and teach them the art of restoration. This is not the first experience of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy in this area; earlier scientists released a joint archaeological dictionary published in Kazakh, Russian, English and Italian.
TILEGEN SADYKOV, PROFESSOR, PHD IN HISTORY:
- The dictionary of archaeological terminology in 4 languages is our first great achievement. This summer we invite our guests to a trip to Shyngystau. Following the results of the expedition, we want to publish a complete description of the discovered exhibits.
LETIZIA MONTALBANO, MEMBER OF CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT, OPIFICIO DELLE PIETRE DURE:
- There is a program for foreign students in our institute. At the moment, we have 25 trainees from different countries and two of them are Kazakhs. They undergo 15 practical courses on restoration. Under the new agreement, we plan to take another student from your country for training.
