Kazakh Berkutchi took part in the national Kyran 2018 tournament

The skilled masters of hunting birds gathered in the Almaty region. The Burkitshi from the country’s 10 regions took part in the national Kyran 2018 tournament. The event was held as part of the Modernization of Public Consciousness program. The experienced kusbegi presented approximately 60 golden eagles and 10 hawks. In three days the hunters aged between 12 and 70 demonstrated their skills on hunting birds and how the birds pursue prey. The hunting for fox, rabbits and wolves is the pride of the Kazakh people. As the Burkitshi said, this is not just a sport or a hobby; it is a lifestyle, a special state of mind and a part of national consciousness. Therefore, this tradition needs to be revived and developed. Today the Sayat specialized national schools are opening in the regions, where students are trained for hunting birds.
