The transition to the Latin alphabet is a way to advanced technological innovations and the most modern achievements in science. According to member of Senate of the Kazakh Parliament, Askar Beisenbayev, this process is necessary for Kazakhstan’s successful integration into the global communication community. Most importantly, the senator claims that the language reform will occur in stages which allows to take into consideration all the details.
ASKAR BEISENBAYEV, CHAIRMAN OF SENATE COMMITTEE, KAZAKH PARLIAMENT:
- We live in the age of globalization. Today, many computer programs are written in Latin. Our computers operate in the Latin script, too. Our kids study and work by using the Internet, phones, Ipads and computers without difficulties. English is based on the Latin script which is the language of innovation and technology and usually, topics that are relevant today are discussed in English.
According to the director of the Republican Center for Language Development, modernization of the Kazakh language is necessary to open the language’s opportunities not only as a means of communication, but also as powerful aspect in the spiritual revival of the people and strengthening the national identity.
