Chief Editor at The London Post Shahid Qureshi supports the transition of Kazakh language to the Latin script. According to him, this step will allow Kazakhstan to integrate into the world community.
SHAHID QURESHI, CHIEF EDITOR, THE LONDON POST:
- I think international languages is how people understood you and how you understood the international community and international language. So obviously by using those alphabets help you understand more about international community and what international media is saying about you.
The UK Experts claims that Kazakhstan has chosen the right path and will successfully implement the transition to the Latin script. The staged process of transitioning to the Latin script will allow to consider the experience of neighboring states.
CATHERINE JUDELSON, TRANSLATOR:
- I hope that you will not make the mistake that has been made in other countries in Central Asia. You changed the alphabet but you don’t produce enough books for children with the new alphabet to encourage the interest in reading. Plenty of teachers and publishers would be interested in doing this.
