Transition to Latin script
The discussion on the transition of the Kazakh alphabet to the Latin script continues in Kazakhstan. The Semey scientists support the initiative. Philologists say that the country experienced the use of the Latin script in the past.
ASAN OMAROV, EXPERT IN ABAI STUDIES:
- I believe that it is necessary to remind everyone that Latin was used in the 1930s and 1940s. We should highlight this. The Latin script was used for writing and there was no problem.
Public figure Dos Koshim says that the transition to the Latin script is a wise decision. In his opinion, the Latin script will raise the status of the Kazakh language to a new level.

- It's time to make changes to our alphabet. I think it's time to raise the status of the Kazakh language. I’m confident that with the transition to the Latin script, it won’t be difficult to study the language.
Kazakhs in Tatarstan consider the transition to the Latin script as a necessary step towards the modernization of public consciousness. Currently about 100 projects on the Latin alphabet are being implemented in the country.
