Kazakhstan and the EU are expanding cooperation in science and innovations
Kazakhstan and the EU are expanding cooperation in science and innovations. The European Union’s "Horizon-2020" program coincides with Kazakhstan’s Development Strategy 2050. It finances research, development and innovative projects for the accelerated and sustainable economic development of the European countries. The key priorities include: growing competitiveness, addressing global challenges in healthcare, energy, climate and security. The EU has allocated 80 billion euros for the program until 2020. Most importantly, both Europeans, and representatives of foreign countries can participate in the program. Six out of the 40 proposals of Kazakhstani scientific institutions are being financed now. The EU is ready to support about 500 innovation projects.
CAMILLA MAGZIEVA, DIRECTOR, INDEPENDENT BOARD ON PROMOTION OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN KAZAKHSTAN:
- On October 27, the European Commission announced new competitions for the program "Horizon 2020" for the period until 2020 - for 3 years. Transformation and digitalization of cultural heritage is a very important direction. Participants can receive a grant for research in the field of literary monuments or monuments of architecture. The smallest grant is one million euros. Any university, institute or research organization, center, small enterprise, or commercial organization can take part.
NINA BROWN, COORDINATOR, NET4SOCIETY:
- If you have a national contact point within a network, even if it’s only one person, it can multiply the information within the other country. I think it’s about multiplicating the information. And it’s also like an entity, like another country can also gather information from the research institutions, so then we can publish it in our news letter. We can say what your national institutions are doing.
