East Kazakhstan region reports 29 COVID-19 cases among schoolchildren in a month
Schools in Kazakhstan reopened for students only one month ago, but the country has already reported new COVID-19 cases among children. From September 1 to October 1, 29 schoolchildren in East Kazakhstan region tested positive for COVID-19. 13 of them attended the duty classes, while 16 schoolchildren contracted coronavirus despite the distance learning. Six of them were already reported to have recovered from COVID-19. Local authorities said that it was possible to find out about the positive cases of infection among schoolchildren due to the daily morning check-up. Children are not allowed to go to the classroom without the body temperature measurement first, as well as other important measures.
“A decree to transfer classes that are the clusters of coronavirus infection in schools to distance learning was issued in East Kazakhstan region. Anti-epidemic sanitary and disinfection activities were carried out in all schools where a dangerous virus was detected,” the press office of the Department for Quality Control and Safety of Goods and Services of East Kazakhstan Region reported.
