Coronavirus cases in Kazakhstan reach 21,819

Ten people died from coronavirus in the last day. According to Kazakh Health Ministry, 492 more coronavirus cases have been registered over the past 24 hours, including 59 in Almaty and 57 in Nur-Sultan. The infection spread is 2.3 percent.

The total number of infected people in the country amounted to 21,819, involving 3,845(+57) in Nur-Sultan, 3,775(+59) in Almaty, 1,647(+38) in Shymkent, 482(+10) in Akmola region, 862(+34) in Aktobe region, 720(+19) in Almaty region, 1,640(+23) in Atyrau region, 793(+51) in East Kazakhstan region, 693(+10) in Zhambyl region, 1,462(+31) in West Kazakhstan region, 2,268(+49) in Karagandy region, 498(+27) in Kostanai region, 664(+11) in Kyzylorda region, 484(+6) in Mangystau region, 740(+31) in Pavlodar region, 400(+22) in North Kazakhstan region and 846(+14) in Turkistan region.

1,003 more asymptomatic carriers were confirmed in the past day, including 141 in Karagandy region and 111 in Atyrau region. Their total number reached 17,642.

The number of recovered patients is 13,008. 188 people died.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has recently held a meeting on measures to respond to coronavirus spread. He noted that the number of cases has increased seven times since restrictions were lifted on May 11. In order to take urgent measures to stabilize the epidemiological situation, he instructed the State Commission to develop a proposal on the introduction of strict quarantine in two days, similar to the one that was in effect in March-May of this year.
