Over 225,000 People Infected With Coronavirus Worldwide
More than 225,000 people are infected with coronavirus worldwide, according to latest data of the World Health Organization. COVID-19 claimed over 9,000 lives. 84,000 people have recovered from the virus.
427 people died over the past 24 hours in Italy, the hardest-hit country outside China, bringing the country’s death toll to 3,405. The number of deaths in Italy surpassed the numbers in China, where 3,245 people died of COVID-19.
Italian government considers extending the national lockdown beyond the current end date of April 3rd. The local authorities are also considering additional restrictions, including walking on the streets. To date, there are more than 41,000 people infected with coronavirus in Italy.
“415 people have recovered in one day. 4,440 Italian citizens have recovered since the COVID-19 outbreak. Unfortunately, 4,500 people have been infected over the past 24 hours. That’s a record number”, head of Italy’s Civil Protection Department, Angelo Borrelli commented.
