SCO presents cultural and sports events plan in Beijing
From yoga and boxing to a drawing competition. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization or SCO presented programs of cultural and sports events for the next year in Beijing. The organization had to be creative due to the pandemic and switched most of the competitions and performances to the online format. Organizers assured that this will not make it less spectacular. On December 6, thousands of athletes from dozens of countries will go to the marathon, each of them from their homeland.
“This year, due to the epidemiological situation, the SCO Secretariat and the People's Government of Yunnan Province made a decision to hold the 5th Kunming Marathon on December 6 in an online format. Professional athletes and running enthusiasts from all over the world can take part in our marathon via a special application, which will be available online in Chinese, Russian and English languages,” said Vladimir Norov, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Shanghai EXPO of arts will be held in December for the 24th time, presenting paintings of children who took part in an online exhibition. Participants from 15 SCO member states have previously submitted more than 500 works to the competition. Moreover, the organization will mark next year its 20th anniversary on a grand scale. It plans to hold a number of events, including the Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine, film festivals and student football tournament.
