Kazakhstan regions hold online competitions dedicated to National Dombyra Day
The holiday is celebrated on July 5 this year. First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev established the National Dombyra Day by a decree published in 2018. It was decided to celebrate this holiday on the first Sunday of July.
In Kokshetau, public association “Yel birligi” holds online competition among fans of traditional chants. The auditions will be until June 26. The participants have to post videos of their performances on the organizer’s social media. The winner will be determined by voting. The competition will award three titles: best akyn-improviser, best performer of traditional songs and best kuishi. Organizers are confident that the event will deepen the spiritual component in the education of youth.
“Such projects are very important, because they are aimed at the popularization of singing art and traditional singing in particular, and, of course, our national, truly sacred musical instrument, dombyra. I am very glad that many applications came from the youth. We will choose the best,” said Mukhamed Konkayev, director of a school of akyns.
In Pavlodar, families invite to take part in the online competition “Dombyra Party”. The urban contest will last until July 7, said the Cultural Department.
“The goal of the event is dissemination of positive experience in family relations, encouraging children to participate in projects online as well as introducing them to cultural values,” said the department’s head Samal Begalinova.
Any family that can play the dombyra may take part in the competition. You have to perform any work, kui or song, which lasts no more than three minutes. The video must be sent to e-mail gdkpvl.@mail.ru.
The jury, the experienced musicians, will evaluate the level of skill, the technique and artistry.
Organizers chose several nominations: “Creative family”, “People's Choice Award”, “Best video” and “Best performance”.
The videos that will win the hearts of the jury will be posted on pages of social media, while winners will receive prize money.
