Turkmen singers performed arias from “Abai” opera
According to Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s press service, a symphony orchestra of Turkmenistan made a musical gift performing arias from “Abai” opera in honor of 175th birth anniversary of the great Kazakh poet, composer and educator Abai Kunanbaiuly. The arias from “Abai” opera created by Akhmet Zhubanov and Latif Khamidi were sung by a famous Turkmen tenor Nury Nuryyev and opera singer soprano Leili Okdirova on stage of the National Music and Drama Theater in Ashgabat. Songs “Aittym salem, Kalamkas” and “Karlygash” were performed to the accompaniment of musical instruments.
The orchestra’s chief conductor Rasul Klychev made a congratulatory speech, where he emphasized that Kazakh and Turkmen nations are united by common historical and cultural roots. He is very pleased to pay tribute to the great Abai who promoted Kazakh culture to new levels.
Kazakh Ambassador to Turkmenistan Yerkebulan Sapiyev noted that the event dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the poet and educator contributed to the promotion of the eternal values of Abai’s creative legacy. He also expressed sincere gratitude for organization of the concert.
