2019: Cultural Achievements of Kazakhstan
2019 has been full of bright concert programs, tours, new performances and theatre tours. For example, the main opera stage of Kazakhstan presented to spectators unforgettable performances such as The Silken Ladder by Gioachino Rossini, La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini, Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky, Don Carlos by Giuseppe Verdi, Giselle by Adolphe Adam and Coppelia by Leo Delibes.
Soloists of the theatre have successfully presented their skills overseas as well. They toured to Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Russia and Uzbekistan this year. Meanwhile, the past 12 months has also been productive for the Astana Ballet. The theatre has staged four new plays and 12 choreographic performances. The rich repertoire of the theatre delighted the international fans of ballet art.

The past twelve months were also productive for Astana Ballet in Kazakhstan’s capital. Four new plays and nearly twelve choreographic performances were staged in the theatre. The rich repertoire of the theatre delighted the foreign fans of ballet art.
“This productive year began in February with the premier of ‘Touch of Illusions.’ We also staged a big premier in the summer, which is the Legend of Love by the outstanding choreographer, Yuri Grigorovich on the stage of the Alisher Navoi Theatre in Tashkent. Astana Ballet has also successfully performed on the stage of Covent Garden in London. At the end of the year, we have completed our tour with four performances in four cities in California, America,” said Director of Astana Ballet Theatre, Alexandr Sovostyanov.
One of the main exhibits of the National Museum of Kazakhstan, the Golden Man, was presented for the first time in Turkey, Malaysia, Greece, North Macedonia, Tatarstan and Uzbekistan. The exhibit was presented in 12 museums worldwide as part of the Modernization of Kazakhstan’s Identity program.
2019 is a very successful year for the very talented and famous Kazakh singer, Dimash Kudaibergen. His solo concerts were sold out in Nur-Sultan, Kremlin Palace in Moscow and Ice Palace in Saint Petersburg, as well as in the Barclays Center in New York.
This year has become memorable for the grand poetic challenge. The literary competition dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Abai has become popular internationally through social media. People from all over the world posted videos reciting excerpts of legendary works of the great Kazakh poet and philosopher. President of Kazakhstan, ministers, diplomats, foreign literature critics, journalists, public figures as well as school and university students took part in the challenge. The challenge was dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Abai which will be marked in 2020. The 1,150th anniversary of the great scientist, Al-Farabi, is also planned to be celebrated in the upcoming year.
