Russian Artists on the Stage of Astana Opera Theater

The St. Petersburg Opera State Chamber Music Theater toured to Kazakhstan for the first time.

At Astana Opera, the Russian artists staged two masterpieces of world classics, including the famous opera of Giuseppe Verdi, Rigoletto. The metropolitan audience was presented with a new version of the psychological drama.

Another gift for the residents and visitors of the capital was the opera of Georges Bizet, The Pearl Fishers. The production, which takes place in Ceylon Island, immediately captivated the public with both melodic richness and dramatic expressiveness. Meanwhile, the work of the director of the St. Petersburg Theater, Yuriy Aleksandrov, is familiar to the local public. Nearly 13 performances have been staged by the theater director at various venues of the country.

“We have arrived here. I refused to tour to Israel which was scheduled at this time. The moment I heard Nur-Sultan, I said we are going there. This is much more important for me. I chose this performance to show a serious classic such as Rigoletto. It is rarely staged on tour because you need an excellent team of soloists, a diverse culture and orchestral sound which are hard to make it possible during the hectic schedule of touring,” said Theater Director, Yuriy Aleksandrov.
