International Eurasian Dance Festival Kicks off in Nur-Sultan

Third International Eurasian Dance Festival has kicked off in the Kazakh capital. The world’s leading ballet companies have prepared a great program featuring classical masterpieces, folk art and the latest premieres by renowned modern choreographers, all to be staged at Astana Ballet. Within the next two weeks, the residents and visitors of the Kazakh capital will have an opportunity to enjoy productions by well-known dance teams from Berlin, Prague, Tokyo, Saint Petersburg, Kyiv and Nur-Sultan. 

“This year, our festival participants include the Virsky Ukrainian National Dance Ensemble. This outstanding dance team has never been in Kazakhstan before. It is the oldest folk ensemble in the former Soviet countries. Also, another dance team that is part of our festival is the Japan International Ballet Company directed by Vladimir Malakhov, which is one of the most prominent dance teams in the world. Moreover, Mariinsky Theater will present its project titled ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’. The fourth dance team is the National Ballet of the Czech Republic from Prague who is set to present their dance program titled ‘the Slavic Temper’,” Zhanibek Kair, executive director of the festival told Kazakh TV.

The festival that has already turned into a great tradition is one of the brightest cultural events in the world ballet. Many admit that the capital of Kazakhstan is turning into a true center of attraction for cultures of the East and the West.

The ‘Eurasian Dance Festival’ will last till June 16th. On the festival’s final day, the world’s best ballet stars will give a gala concert at Astana Ballet theatre.
