A 13-year old Kazakh school girl, Aidana Alimzhanova won singing contest in France. She was awarded with a prize at a prestigious international singing festival, ‘Paris, Je T’aime.’ The young contestant from Kazakhstan was one of the leading vocalists among 200 participants from various countries.
The young singer had walked a long path to the well-deserved recognition. Aidana has practiced singing for over five years. After winning the grand prize at Kazakh contest “Ak Zhelen”, the singer participated in the contest in France.
LARISSA YEREMINA, HEAD OF SANDYKTAU REGIONAL YOUTH ART CENTER:
- We gave the parents the information sheet about the contest. They read it skeptically, since it’s a European contest and they are from a village.
The girl likes jazz music very much, but for the French and English-speaking audience, she decided to perform the classic Kazakh songs that are difficult for children to sing.
AIDANA ALIMZHANOVA, VOCALIST:
- I prepared two songs for the contest – “Kaizaman” and “Tugan Zher.” I was surprised that the French audience who don’t speak the Kazakh language liked my performance and applauded me. My dream is to be a popular artist in Kazakhstan and give concerts in other countries together with other singers.
DAMELI YESSENTUGELEVA, AIDANA ALIMZHANOVA’S GRANDMOTHER:
- When we learnt that Aidana will go to Paris, we began thinking about the outfit. I made this outfit and all her other dresses myself. I wanted to demonstrate Kazakhstan’s symbols – the color of our flag and the golden Kazakh ornaments.
The vocal coaches believe that the rising singer has a promising future. This year, Aidana plans to show her skills at The Voice Kids show in Russia.
