Kazakh Television marks 60th anniversary

Today this robotic and modern television studio is the highlight of Astana’s television center. One anchor presents live here. Technology replaced operators. The chief director starts the news on air with one button. The studio equipped with technology allows live broadcasting 24 hours a day.

 - International guests usually visit us.  They are surprised that we have the technology. It's very convenient. Operators had worked here for 5 years who could have been distracted by someone. Today we are used to working in the studio. I want to say it's very convenient when it's only me and the camera.

According to the media center's management, there are no analogues of this modern television studio in the CIS countries, where the country’s eight main television channels and three radio stations are located. Only the studios of the world’s popular TV channels like CNN, BBC and NBA can be proud of such equipment. Technologies of the Canadian production allowed improving and speeding up the process of releasing information.

 - We achieved the most important visual benefits and effects. First of all, this is about the possibilities of augmented reality in this studio. These robotic carts can show the location and tracking data so that virtual graphics in a live studio can proportionally increase and decrease which makes the picture bigger.

Modern studios, filming pavilions, the rich technical base, as well as assembly rooms are equipped with the contemporary generation technologies.  Once the reel spool was used in the world’s television studios. Today the technology of the past are stored only in the museum and in memories people.

 - I remember it all started with recording from a recorder to another recorder or recording news from CNN and the BBC. Then a reel spool was appeared to which we recorded the video. The technology changed, so did our work. As I said, we recorded to tape recorders. The drums were spinning, the paper was spinning and the text was recorded there. Then, computer did all the work. There were times, when we specifically waited for the video for recording. Today, all videos and texts are available in a constant mode in the computer. In general, the process is fast. The television process changed so did our work.

With the help of mobile television stations, it is possible to report at any time of the day from anywhere in the world. The mobile software and hardware set LIVE U has been used in Kazakhstan for more than three years. This is the so-called clever backpack that transmits audio and video signals through 3G and 4G mobile networks. Thanks to cooperation with the APTN news agency, direct connections are also possible from abroad.

 - In 1993, when I was just employed by the Kazakhstan state television and Radio Company, Sherkhan Murtaza was a chairman of the company. I had a Super VHS camera, a two-hour tape; I always wanted the best camera in terms of quality. Today we have the Full HD format and the quality is much higher. We edited with a nonlinear device. In 1999, I worked in the Zhambyl and South Kazakhstan regions; we filmed the story, edited it and transferred it by train or by plane. Today it's possible to live broadcast since technologies allow.

Tiny cameras and robotics in studios as well as video archives in are the technical revolution of domestic television. Information transformation took place more than half a century ago. Only one thing stays unchanged, the main character of the screen is a viewer.
