The performance "Karakoz" was staged in German language in Berlin
The performance "Karakoz" was staged in German language in Berlin as part of the Modernization of public consciousness program. Artists of Kazakhstan’s State Academic Drama Theater presented Mukhtar Auezov's work in a modern interpretation. Directors and composers showed a complex drama with philosophical meaning with the help of musical accompaniment and choreography. According to the audience, the tragic story of two lovers, Karakoz and Syrym, deeply touched their hearts. The European public highly appreciated the acting and contemporary art of Kazakhstan. The play will later be staged in Paris and Brussels.
NATALYA DUBS, DIRECTOR, GERMAN STATE ACADEMIC DRAMA THEATER:
- It was a very warm welcome. Many thanks to all the organizers! The deep meaning of Mukhtar Auezov’s poetry could have been conveyed only through the language of plastics and choreography because it contains beautiful and complex poetic images. Therefore, we combined acting with choreography.
DMITRY KHOLTSMAN, ACTOR, GERMAN STATE ACADEMIC DRAMA THEATER:
- The role is not really simple because the play is all about the Kazakh traditions, I was only an observer of all these things. But it was easy to understand. It was interesting. Many spectators were those who used to live in Almaty in Kazakhstan. It was very nice to see my people here in Berlin.
