Central Asia in UNESCO world heritage

A representative list of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage can be replenished by the customs and traditions of the Central Asian countries. Among the nominees is Kazakhstan with the national game Asyk, Kyrgyzstan with folklore equestrian game. Tajikistan has also sent its application. Tajikistan intends to nominate popular national songs named ‘Falak’. Turkmenistan also placed its proposal. This Central Asian republic offered to include its ancient dance Kusht-Depdi. In total, 34 new applications have been submitted. The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will consider these proposals on the South Korean Jeju Island in a joint meeting before December 9. According to experts, the inclusion of these initiatives in the international registry will further promote the cultural heritage of the Central Asian countries at the international level.
