Film ‘Sayakbai’ enters long-list of Golden globe awards
Sayakbay by Ernest Abdyjaparov entered a long-list of the Golden Globe Award. The Kyrgyz film is dedicated to a great narrator of the epic of Manas, Sayakbay Karalayev. In total the list of the film award includes 73 films from 52 different countries. Winners will be announced on January 7 next year. The movie Sayakbay conveys about a life of the great narrator who is considered as Homer of the 20th-century. The film’s main topic is a mystery of the trilogy of Manas. This work is a vivid example of poetry of the Kyrgyz people and has a great historical significance. The literary work is included in the list of masterpieces of UNESCO's cultural heritage. In addition, the Guinness Book of Records named it as the most voluminous epic in the world.

- The epic of Manas is one of peaks of the world literature. It is the pride of the Turkic world, particularly, the Kyrgyz people. There is no such voluminous work in history. There are many versions of the epic, but the version of Manaschi, Sayakbay Karalayev is the most voluminous and detailed one. Nearly a million verse lines contain volumes of epic tales. In the 19th century Shokan Ualikhanov called this epic as the people’s encyclopedia.
Filmmakers and critics have already appreciated the film about a famous manaschi, Sayakbai Karalayev. This year, at the International Film Festival in Canada the movie got the Visual Innovation Award for Transmitting the Oral Traditions.
